I bought a small Japanese Fern plant from Home Depot and potted in a bigger pot. It is placed indoor in the stairways (where it turns). The staircase gets lots of sunlight in the afternoon. The pot does not get direct light though. However I noticed the the leaves started to get brown and dry. I can see new leaves shooting up from the soil but they become brown too as soon as they come out. The plant seems to be dying.. pls help.. |
Your Japanese painted fern prefers to grow outdoors in bright shade with moist soil. The fronds are probably drying out due to dry air and lack of sufficient soil moisture. Try watering as often as necessary to keep the soil moist but not soggy wet and mist the plant daily to help increase humidity in the air. If it continues to fail, take it outdoors and put it in a spot that receives a few hours of morning sun and afternoon shade. It should perk right up for you. |
