|I recently purchased property with grape vines and I do have a list of the varieties. I would like to know if you could give me information on the varieties? how to care for them? how to identify them? etc.?|
The varieties (at least the list of them that was left to me)
|Based on your list, the two I recognize are Concord and Niagara. Concord is a large, purple colored, mid-season grape used mainly for juice and jelly; Niagara is considered a white wine grape and is early to mid-season. Both are known for their hardiness. Your local county extension may recognize the others based on types that are locally popular and/or tend to thrive in your local area. They should also be able to help you develop a care routine based on your local climate and the weather each year. In the meantime, here are general guidelines to grape growing for home gardeners that you may find helpful. |
Enjoy your new vineyard!
