Can you start a clematis off of an existing plant? If so, how is this procedure done?

Clematis is more commonly grafted or budded for commercial production but they can sometimes be started at home by rooting a tip cutting or by layering. Here is information on doing this.

Here are some instructions on how to take cuttings from shrubs but the principles are the same for vines as well. You may need to cut and paste the url into your browser to make it work correctly.
