I purchased a palace purple coral bell a few years back and it had a green shoot on it which I separated. It is growing well. When I purchased it there were a few others there with this green shoot on them, is this normal for palace purple?

It is not all that uncommon for purple leaved plants to develop shoots with green leaves on them. You were right in removing the offending shoot. Glad it's doing well for you!
