| We've planted several Cypress trees to boarder our property there are over 30 now and they are about 5'high. We have them on drip and they are doing well only two show a small sign of brown on the very end of a couple branches. However people are telling us they'll get a fungus and die in our area. Is this true what can we do to protect them? Since I've been told this I've noticed many other dead ones along side the roads. |
| If the soil is poorly draining, cypress is susceptible to root rot. You can check the soil moisture content and drainage by watering as usual, waiting 3-4 days, and then digging a hole near the roots of your trees. If the soil is still moist 3 inches beneath the surface, you won't need to water for a few days; if it's dry, it's time to water; if it's soggy wet it doesn't drain quickly enough and the roots may become starved for oxygen. If this is the case, you'll need to adjust your watering schedule. Best wishes with your landscape! |
