I love the idea of a rain garden but am concerned about what would work in my yard. I live on the Georgia coast and we are flooded at high tides with salt water from the ocean. Can you tell me what plants would work for my area?

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. We are transitioning to a new Q&A system and your question was unfortunately lost in the transition. I have discovered it now and hope this reply is not too late to be of help.

That is a tough one, and very few plants will tolerate such conditions. You might try contacting your local county Extension Office to see if they have any suggestions for your area. Depending on the level of saltiness such condition create and the length of time covered with water, some plants that may be well suited to such conditions are: Ice Plant, Sea Oats, Canna and Louisiana Iris.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
