The first year they where beautiful. The second year it looked like something was eating the leaves and now the leaves are brown like a fungis and very few flowers. What are the standard diseases and how to treat. What are the standard insects and how to treat. Also do you cut back the plant for the winter or leave it along. Also does the plant flower all summer or not. |
Salvia May Night is usually considered easy to grow and generally pest and disease free, so I am not certain what you are seeing. It begins to bloom in late spring to early summer and then will repeat if deadheaded. Mine usually bloom very well through the fall until frost. They should be trimmed back short after freezing weather each fall. I would suggest you consult with your professional nursery staff and/or county extension to see if they can diagnose the foliage problems for you. If it is something that needs to be treated they will be able to tell you the most up to date recommendations including what to use and how/when is best to apply it. I'm sorry you are having trouble with your salvias. |
