|I have ivy in my yard that is taking over everything. How can I kill it?
|There are several ways to try this. You can peel it back using a sharp flat spade, then dig out the main roots. Each time it resprouts, cut it back again. Eventually the root reserves will be exhausted. You can also peel it back using a shovel and then place layers of damp newspaper over top of the area and top that with a deep layer of organic mulch. If any bits manage to sprout, cut them off and add more paper and mulch in that spot. Eventually, it will be somethered out and exhausted. Or you can try spraying with an herbicide containing glyphosate. Be sure to read and follow the label instructions. Be prepared to repeat the treatment several times. This is not an easy plant to kill off.
