I am planning on planting many perennials for next spring. The front of my yard gets full sun for most of the day and has tall walls. I'm also interested in planting some perenials and green shrubs that are tall around my lampost. what suggestions do you have? |
There are so many different things you could try, depending on the growing conditions and your space and your personal taste or design goals. Keep in mind that most perennials bloom for only a short time, so the plants should have nice foliage that you will enjoy looking at the rest of the season. Your local professional nursery staff should be able to help you analyze the growing conditions (such as soil type, sun exposure, wind exposure, soil moisture levels, and so on) where you want to plant and suggest plants that will thrive there, then you could select the ones you like from among those. Some of my favorite perennials for a sunny spot would include baptisia, iris, daylilies, bulb lilies, purple coneflower, sedums, asters and boltonia. Some evergreens that might work, depending on the overall space and growing conditions, could possibly be yews, arborvitaes or junipers. Enjoy your planting! |
