Do you have any information about "Hansen" or Nanking" bush cherries?

Yes, bush cherries, which is what Hansen and Nanking are, make attractive hedges and foundation plantings. They produce tart, black purple cherries suitable for pies and preserves. They are easy to grow and seldom bothered by insects or diseases. They will grow to about 4-5 feet in as many years, producing cherries the second year! They should be judiciously pruned to protect them from bird depredation when the bushes begin to produce. They are self-fertile so you don't need to have more than one in order to have cherries.
