Thank you very much for responding very quickly to two earlier questions. My final question of the day: How would a Weeping Birch do in a spot that receives direct/dappled afternoon sun? My house is located in Washington, DC.

Once again, thank you for help!

I am so sorry. This tree is really not recommended for planting in DC either, the weather is too hot for it as well. It is suggested for planting north of the Pennsylvania Turnpike to give you an idea -- think Poconos and New England for cool summers and cold winters. You could try the river birch though, Betula nigra "Heritage" for example. This is more heat and drought tolerant and is also highly resistant to borers -- the other very strong reason not to plant a white or paper birch. I would really suggest you work with a local, professionally trained and certified nurseryman to determine some suitable plant choices for you landscaping.
