What kind of fertilizer is best for potted alstromeria? It bloomed in the spring, then sprouted beautiful foliage -but no more blooms. Does it need fertilizer or will it only bloom once?

This plant should bloom from spring and all summer into fall if temperatures are cool enough. It needs full sun to grow and bloom its best, but it also prefers cooler weather. In my experience hot summer temperatures can keep it from blooming, and once it has been too warm it may not bloom well even when temperatures cool off again in the fall. This can mean it will just send up so-called blind shoots. To some extent this apparently depends on the cultivar, so it may pick up again in the fall. A general purpose fertilizer (eg 10-10-10 plus minors) should be fine, for a container plant use either a slow release form or a water soluble type per the label instructions. Use it at the higher rate as this plant does need higher fertility levels to do well. Good luck with your Alstroemeria!
