|I was given a (from the tag) Dtps. Queen Beer 'Mantefon' HCC/AOS. It was blooming beautifully. All the blooms have now fallen off and I want to do whatever so that it will continue to grow nd bloom again. Do I cut the stems back? How much? What? Thanks|
That variety is a moth orchid. It blooms primarily in late winter. Remove the spend bloom stalk back down to the base of the plant. The when fall temps drop to daytime highs of below 75 and nights above 60 degrees take it to a bright shady spot outdoors for about 4 weeks. If temps drop below 60 bring it in for the night. This will initiate formation of the bloom buds in the plant. Then bring it in and place it in a bright window but not necessarily in direct sunlight. It should send up a new bloom stalk in mid to late winter.
