| We usually grow begonias outdoors (in our gardens and in containers) in this country, both the tuberous types and the fibrous rooted types. And we also grow some as houseplants indoors year round. But I would expect the reasoning behind protecting them from rain would be to help keep the foliage, buds and blooms dry and thus less susceptible to disease problems. Any time you have an extensive, special collection (especially if they are show plants) it pays to take pains to keep the plants as healthy as possible. |
