I live in southern MI and was wondering when is the best time to cut back(prune) the following shrubs, Golden flame and Little Princess Spirea and my boxwoods.

The general rule of thumb is to prune flowering shrubs immediately after they have finished flowers and to prune non-flowering shrubs at the beginning of the growing season. You can prune lightly now, but don't wait too long - pruning encourages new growth and you'll want the new growth to mature enough to harden off before cold weather sets in. If you prune too late in the season, the new growth will still be tender when the weather gets cold and will die back during the winter months.

Good luck with your garden!
