The leaves on my scheffelera are falling off. Some turn brown and others just fall off. Soon I will have nothing but stems. The leaves of my cordyline fell off too.

If the leaves on both your cordyline and schefflera are falling off, I'd suspect a cultural problem - either too much, or not enough water. Water problems can have a variety of symptoms, including dropping foliage. Another thing to consider is that plants grow leaves specifically for the amount of light they are in. When they are moved out of that environment they are absorbing to much or to little light. The leaves have no mechanism to change so the plant drops the leaves and regrows leaves that are adjusted for the new light level. This happens commonly with house plants that have been grown outside and moved indoors, or have been moved from a low light to a brightly lit area. So, check the soil moisture to make sure it's just right, then set both of your plants in an area with bright, indirect sunlight. If the roots are healthy they will recover and develop healthy new leaves. Best wishes with your plants!
