Sirs, I have looked up and called the majority of your retail vendors in New Mexico and either they have not answered back, or say they never have your product: THORNLESS CHILEAN MESQUITE. I work for a new/soon to open New Mexico State Monument, the El Camino Real Int'l Heritage Center, and we are very interested in locating this particular type of Mesquite. We are considering purchasing 6 or more and would like to place them in large pots permanently outdoors. Can you tell us the availability (time/vendor) for this plant? We have been told by someone who is successfully growing a Thornless Chilean Mesquite that they grow very well in our area (which is in the Rio Grande Valley of NM at an elevation of about 4800 ft. with winters that may dip on occasion to 10-degrees F.
Please advise with any information on this desired plant.
Thanks for your help!

I think you'll have good luck in contacting the Native Plant Society of New Mexico or contacting one of the following growers of native plants:
Bernardo Beach Native Plant Nursery, 3729 Arno Street, Albequerque 87107-2201 Garden center, lots and lots of Southwest natives and adapted exotics, especially upper Chihuahuan Desert. "Most of our plants are best adapted between 4,000 & 7,000 ft in elevation- northern Chihuahuan species are our specialty." (505) 345-6248

Sierra Vista Growers, 2800 NM Highway. 28, La Union 88021. Southwest native and adapted plants, largest nursery in the El Paso - Las Cruces area. (505) 874-2415

Santa Ana Garden Center, 157 Jemez Dam Rd, Bernalillo 87004 Locally grown plants for high desert environment. (505) 867-1322

Best wishes with your landscaping project!
