|Is it to late to plant ground cover located in full shade (zone 5 A), or should I wait until spring?
|To some extent it depends on the size of plant (root depth) you are planting and when your first frosts typically are. It is good to allow at least 8 weeks before the ground freezes so the plants have time to become rooted. Also, you may find that the plant selection is broader in the spring, in case you don't see the plant you want in stock now. If you are using plants from four inch pots or larger it is probably fine, if you are using little rooted cuttings in peat pots I would wait and purchase them in the spring. If you already have the plants, plant them as soon as you can -- don't try to hold them in pots over the winter. Use a layer of organic mulch several inches deep over the ground between the plants to help insulate the roots. Good luck!
