Hedges - Knowledgebase Question

I have ordered a privet hedge, but am having second thoughts. I would rather have something a little less formal and without so much maintenance. I want it to be about 6 feet tall and about 2-3 feet wide. I want it for privacy. It would be in full to part sun. Fast growing would be preferred. What would you suggest?

According to Utah State University, Privet is well suited to your growing region. Here's a link to their recommendations for trees and shrubs in your area that adapt to your soils:

After reading through the literature, you may change your mind about changing your mind. I think privets will make a nice hedging plant for your garden.
