| This shrub does grow to about five by five feet tall and wide, so if it is too big already then moving it is probably a good idea. YOu could do it now, or in late winter/early spring before it starts to grow for the season. Try to take as much of the rootball as possible (remember it will ahve grown over the past year) and replant immediately at the same depth as it is now. Water thoroughly to settle any air pockets and then mulch. Do not fertilize it now as this may encourage late season growth that would not have time to harden off before winter. It may die back somewhat in response to root loss, to compensate, if this happens trim it back in the spring to live wood. Be patient waiting for it to come into growth though as this plant leafs out very late in the spring. Good luck with the move! |
