I have a Meyer lemon tree about 6 mos old. There are little shoots coming out near the base of the tree. Should I trim them off?

The shoots coming from the base (and sometimes the roots) of trees are called suckers. They are non-productive and use energy your tree might otherwise be using to develop foliage and fruit. Cut these suckers off as soon as you find them.

Best wishes with your lemon tree!
