|The leaves on the bottom portions of our Rose of Sharon bushes have begun turning yellow and falling off easily. Is this a moisture problem or soil/fertilizer issue? We live in North Central Texas. Thanks for any help.|
It could be a lack of nitrogen but is more likely due to either dry soil or soggy wet soil for a period of time. It is late to fertilize as you don't want to encourage late season growth which is more succulent and susceptible to cold injury. Try to keep the soil moist but not soggy and if the area has poor drainage consider digging them, rebuilding more raised bed and resetting them in November.
Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
