I was able to overwinter my bajoo banana tree last year, though it was in a very protected by my concrete block garage with a western exposure. Now I would like to move it closer to the middle of my yard which is about 30 feet away. My main concern is what is the best time to transplant the bajoo banana, with Ohio winters. should I leave it until spring and leave the root system intact, or move it in the fall so the roots can get established over winter. My personal thought is to cutback in fall, mulch heavy, and move in spring after growth begin's and give the roots there best chance to survive, However you are the experts. Thank you in advance..Steve.

You were able to overwinter your banana plant because it was in an extremely protected site. If you move it out into a more exposed site it will not survive the winter. But, if you decide to move it anyway, spring is the best time. That's when growth is most vigorous and the roots can quickly establish themselves.
