In your area it is best kept as a potted plant so you can move it into a protected area for the cold winter months. The plant prefers a lot of light when outdoors so when it is moved in try to give it the brightest location possible. Cut back on water and fertilizer for winter. Just water enough to keep the soil barely moist.
