|I planted a Monrovia Beehive Holly in the Spring of 2004 with a number of other small evergreen shrubs for my front garden. We have had a very hot and dry summer so I have fertilized and watered the garden enough to prevent real drought conditions. However, the Beehive Holly has turned all brown and appears dead. Any idea why one in particular would die, while the others are doing well? It appeared to be very healthy before this. thanks!!

|Based on your description I am not certain what happened, however I have seen shrubs that failed to root thoroughly seem fine for a while and then somewhat suddenly die, usually in a dry spell. You might dig it up and take a look at the roots.
