| Hi, I just bought a small triangle palm from Ikea. I have potted in a large container. Is it an indoor plant? If not, If I keep it in front of patio door which gets morning sun, will it survive. what other care do I need to do? can you pls suggest some indoor palms? |
| Neodypsis cecaryi or triangle palm can be grown indoors as a houseplant. It would not survive your cold winters outdoors. Your patio door sounds like a good place in terms of light. Keep it in a bright eastern facing window or in a western window with sheer curtains in the summer to protect it from the direct afternoon sun. It appreciates warm household temperatures and as much humidity as possible. In summer when temperatures are reliably above 55 degrees you could set it outside in bright indirect light in a sheltered spot. During the months when it is actively growing, allow the soil surface to dry between waterings and then water thoroughly, also fertilize regularly with a water soluble fertilizer for foliage plants such as 10-10-10 plus minors per the label instructions. In the winter, do not fertilize and allow the soil to become drier between waterings. You may have to provide a humidifier during the indoor heating season.
