|I am interested in planting some Arizona Carolina Cypress trees to provide a screen from my neighbor's house. The soil in my yard is commonly referred to as parrarie soil or parrarie mud. Will the Arizona Carolina Cypress tolerate this soil? I have successfully grown Leland Cypress trees in this soil in the past. How does the growth rate of the Arizona Carolina Cypress compare to the growth rate of the Leland Cypress?|
Carolina Sapphire Cypress will do okay in your zone if you can give it lots of sun and well drained soil. A raised bed may be need to be built up in order to prevent soggy wet soil conditions around the roots and base of the tree during some parts of the year. Leyland also hates soggy conditions so your site may be okay after all. Growth rate on the two is similar but Leyland may be a bit faster.
