Ivory Feathers Pampas grass comes in either male or female; the female will produce seeds which can spread by wind or birds; the male will not produce seeds and is therefore considered sterile. Monrovia sells Ivory Feathers propagated by root division which are male. If you want pampas grass but don't want the responsibility of populating the neighborhood with them, choose a male, or cut the plumes off the plant within two weeks of their development, before they can set seeds.
