Snow and ice tends to collect on the needles of Leyland Cypress and can damage the tree. You'll want to provide a snow fence or windbreak (other plants, burlap, etc.) to keep snow from accumulating on the tree, or plant it in a site protected from blowing wind and drifting snow.
