Could you tell me which male holly I should use to pollinate Nellie R. Stevens for max berry production? Will this also increase berry production in other hollies such as needlepoint? Thank You. V. Mergner |
Nellie Stevens is self-fertile so will produce berries without a male nearby. As a matter of fact, all Chinese hollies are self-fruitful, including your Needlepoint. However, you can plant a male Ilex cornuta (Carissa Holly) such as Rotunda to increase fruit production. |
