| I planted a Monrovia grown pink trumpet tree in June 2005. I followed a weekly watering schedule of 30-40 minutes of water to establish the roots. All the leaves have now turned black and fallen off the tree. It is planted in full sun and I used the natural fertilizers to help establish the root systme when I first planted the tree. Are the black leaves a sign that it is dying? |
| Pink Trumpet Tree (Tabebuia impetiginosa) generally does not develop black leaves so I suspect there's a fungal infection of some sort. It's impossible to diagnose without actually looking at the leaves under a microscope, so I'd suggest you take a sample of the affected leaves (seal them in a plastic bag) to your local nursery or Cooperative Extension office for positive identification.
