Two years ago I moved into a new house and bought a monrovia maple
red sunset the same kind I had planted at my old home and this was
a beautiful red color in the fall. The newest red sunset purchased
thru a reputable nursery in marysville wa cannot be a red sunset although your tag says so and the nursery will not exchange.
The 15th of Sept. all the leaves turn yellow and in a week turn brown
and fall off. All other maples in the town are showing color but all
I have is branches. This new home is only located 30 miles north of
my old home and not one tree in my new neighborhood has fallen leaves
already.

I'm really at a loss here, because I can't see the tree and therefore cannot positively identify it for you. The tree may be a Red Sunset maple that is distressed and not developing color as expected. You can take leaf samples into your local Cooperative Extension office and they should be able to key them out for you and give you the true identity of your tree. If it is a Red Sunset and is not developing the color you expect, it may be planted in the wrong location or suffering from a root problem. Contact Snohomish County Cooperative Extension at 425-338-2400.
