i bought 6 monrovia soft touch hollys 007592 from a local south carolina nursey. they over several months look sick and the stalks turn brown and then die. I took 2 of the plants in. they sent it to Clemson who said it was a phomopsis fungus killing it.
Do you have a suggested treatment to stop this fungus?

The lab at Clemson or your local Extension agent should be able to tell you how best to deal with phomopsis. This disease is a canker. Prune out damaged shoots about 3 inches below the damage. Dip pruners into rubbing alcohol between cuts. If your local Extension office recommends a spray then do so after the sanitary pruning is done.
