There are a number of different evergreen plants you could consider using such as yew, arborvitae, holly, juniper, boxwood, Catawba rhododendron and so on. Your choice will depend in part on the growing conditions where you are planting the hedge (for example, is it sunny or shady, extra dry or extra wet, is it windy), what height and width you need or have space for, how long you want to wait for it to look like a hedge, do you want a formal clipped or more informal natural style, your preferred level of maintenance for it, and also your budget. I would suggest you work with your local county extension and/or professionally trained nursery staff to determine what would thrive in the location where you want the hedge, and then work from there based on your preferences and design goals. Good luck with your hedge!
