|I live in Long Island N.Y. and just finished a raised flower bed for the spring. I want to plant some low growing plants such as Monterey Cypress, Single seed Juniper or Dwarf Juniper etc. around it. the bed looks kind of

|You might still plant junipers, make sure to water them as needed to keep the soil slightly moist until it freezes, and mulch well in late fall. Monterey cypress or Cupressus macrocarpa is only considered winter hardy to zone 7 and your zip code places you in zone 6B. Depending on your microclimate it might be warm enough for it, but in any case I would wait to plant any type of Cupressus until the spring -- and check with your local county extension and/or professional nursery staff to see if they think it would thrive where you want to grow it.
