I once was given a flower that they called Evening Primrose. It produced a yellow flower that would bloom every evening. We enjoyed watching the flowers open. It was like... Poof! and it had bloomed. The next morning the flowers would wilt. The next evening we watched a new set of blooms appear. I have hunted for this plant and haven't been able to find it. I sure hpoe you have this flower or know where I can find it. I will be waiting for your reply.

The Evening Primrose is indeed great summer entertainment! I remember as a very small child visiting my aunt's in the summer and traipsing across the street every evening to watch the blooms appear. The 'Innocence' variety of Evening Primrose (Oenethera pallida) is available from Shepherd's Garden Seed. It isn't a yellow bloom, it is a delicate china white that turns pink as the flower matures. The scent is unbelievable, somewhere between lemon custard and honeysuckles. You can obtain seed for this plant by calling Shepherd's at (860) 482-3638 or, write them at Shepherd's Garden Seed, 30 Irene Street, Torrington, CT 06790-6658. Enjoy!
