I recently moved to Arizona from northern Illinois. I have successfully started a rose garden and had great success with my new plants. I purchased them from a Phoenix grower so I know they will do well in my area. Winters are mild here compared to Illinois and my question is: Do i prepare my Hybred and Floribunda roses the way I did in Illinois by cutting them back to about 8-10 inches and mounding them with soil? I cannot use rose cones as they will blow away at our 5000 ft. elevation and gusty winds. Another question: I have 4 - 24

There is an active Master Gardener volunteer group at your local County Cooperative Extension office in Prescott. They will be able to answer your rose questions and more about local growing conditions. 520-445-6590 Good luck!
