Our Hospice has put up an angel outside our Hospice Room. I would like to plant some shrubs maybe Evergreen around the base of the statue. The statue sits in a triangle between two of the buildings walls sort of at the point of the triangle the open long side space faces the west
These are the requirements
1. Low growing
2. Zone 3
3 Would want them to be pretty all year round or we could put small lights on them in the winter time.
4. Disease resistant
5. Low maintenance
I think 6 shrubs would do fine. I would appreciate any ideas. Cindy

There are a number of dwarf evergreen shrubs for you to include in your garden. Here are a few suggestions:
Dwarf Yaupon (Ilex vomitoria nana), grows 2 ft. x 2 ft. in sun or shade. Dwarf Bamboo Bambusa sasa pygara 1 ft. sun or shade. Dwarf Purple-leaf Barberry (Berberis) gros 1 ft. x 1 ft. and has delightful purple foliage. Holly Fern (Cyrtomium falcatum) has feathery foliage and grows to a mound of 18 in. high and wide. Dwarf Junipers (several varieties); low and compact with foliage colors from blue-green to yellow-green to deep green. Dwarf or Kurume Azaleas (Azalea obtusum) 2-3 ft. with spring bloom. Dwarf Pomegranate (Punica granatum nana) 3-4 ft. This is a deciduous shrub with fine textured foliage and small orange blooms in summer.
