Espalier - Knowledgebase Question

I have a north facing brick wall that I would like to epalier something. I have grown roses there, annuals. Would a fruit tree do? I an in zone 9. It is a small planter bed.

A fruit tree is a possibility. Perhaps a pear on dwarfing rootstock or a fig would be good. You might even have success with very low chill apples but you will need two for pollination. Pyracantha is also often espalliered although you have to take care around the thorns.
