Chilean Mesquite. The two that we have are around 5 feet and 7 feet tall respectively. They have been in the ground for 8 months. They are tending to be rather wild and in need of pruning. At what time of year should they be pruned? Any special instructions? Can they be heavily pruned?

Thank you bunches for your help.

You can do major pruning from November through February; since growth is rapid during the summer months, you can prune lightly then, cutting back drooping branches and thinning inside branches to prevent excessive top-heavy growth and reduce wind damage. Best wishes with your landscape!
