|Dear Sir, I planed 6 Alberta Spruce this spring, I was told to water often until established. I have keep them moist all summer. Now they are turning brown and are loosing their foilage. They appear to be almost dead. What should I do? Is there any thing I can do to save my Spruce? Also, when it is said
Normally it takes about 2 or 3 months to get a plant started on being established but a year or more to really get some good, extensive roots established so it is more resilient.
It is difficult to describe proper soil moisture. Basically the plants need to get a good soaking and then be allowed to dry out a little before watering again. Both drought and soggy wet conditions are very damaging to the roots.
If the damage was too severe, and a tree that has turned completely brown indicates very severe damage, it may not recover. Otherwise it should be able to pull out of it with proper watering and care.
Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
