|My New Zealand Flax is getting very large. Are you supposed to prune it or cut it back to keep it from getting out of control? We have it around the pool waterfall and it is starting to cover the waterfall. Can I just cut it shorter?

|You can cut down the clump and new growth will begin in a few weeks. After cutting it down, you may want to dig the roots and divide the plant. Phormium grows as wide as it does tall and occasionally outgrows its garden spot. This would be a good time to dig and divide. Best wishes with your garden!
