I have a spiral dwarf alberta spruce on our covered western exposure front porch. It is right up against the side light window next to the front door. How do I care for it facing a western exposure in the denver, colorado area. I appreciate any help you can give me since it is such a beautiful tree & I hate to lose its ornamental value on our home. Thanks!

Dwarf Alberta Spruce is winter hardy in zones 3-8. Your plant may be at risk if it is in a container rather than planted in the ground. While the top may be winter hardy in the protected site you describe, the roots may be subject to cold damage if they are above ground level. You can protect the roots by wrapping the growing containers with insulating material, or you can sink the pot into the ground where soil temperatures will help insulate the roots. Best wishes with your landscape!
