|Hello, my sister in Mexico has numerous palm trees on her land and surronded by each palm tree are small individual bushes of a green plant with green and purple leaves. The plants are low lying and never get higher than about 8-12 inches. They do not remember the name of the plant, but that they survive very well in heat and cold. I would like to find out the name so I can purchase some in Nevada. Any assistance would be most helpful. Thank you.
|I'm afraid there are dozens of plants that could be the groundcover your sister is growing. To properly identify it, I'll need a more detailed description. Does the plant flower? What color? What shape? Is it in sun or shade? How large are the leaves and how are they arranged on the stem? (Opposite, alternate, etc.) Are the leaves fleshy or thin? Does the plant send out runners or do the stems root wherever they touch the soil? Whatever information you can provide will help us narrow down the choices. Please submit a complete description through the Monrovia question and answer site and we'll do our best to identify the plant for you.
