Boxwoods do well in sun or part shade; in full sun all day long you need to make sure the soil stays evenly moist (not sopping wet or saturated, but not bone dry). Full sun all morning or bright dappled light would be fine, also. I would not recommend it for a location that receives sun only in the afternoon. Your local professional nursery staff can help you determine if you have a location that is well suited to boxwood. If not, they can suggest a substitute.
