Can petunias and pansies be propagated except for seeds? Also,
how far apart should I place them, when I transplant them?

Dianne,

Seed is the most common way, but you can also root cuttings if you like. The following web site provides more info on rooting cuttings:

Place petunia plants about a foot apart and pansies about 6 inches apart.
