|We have 3 podocarpus gracilior planted between a spa and our house and they have been there about 10 years. We have kept them contained in size and laced (approximately 13 feet tall and wonder if we can continue to keep them that size indefinitely. Will their roots do any damage ultimately? I have toured your nursery before and am a HUGE fan of your plants. My garden is your garden. I would appreciate any information you can give me. Thank you! Sincerely, Priscilla Hoecker|
|Podocarpus gracilior is often used in traffic islands and buffer strips in parking lots because the roots tend not to cause problems with sidewalks or blacktop. I suspect they will be just as well-behaved in your landscape. These plants are often espalliered, as well, so consistent pruning won't hurt them at all. I'd leave them alone. I think they'll continue to do well for you for many years to come.
Glad you like Monrovia stock! I'm sure you'll find lots of new introductions that you'll just love. Enjoy!
