This is a difficult question, because if the tree has been indoors for more than just a couple of days then its natural cycle will have been disrupted and sudden exposure to the extreme cold will shock it. It may also have already become very stressed due to the warm, dry, indoor air. I would move it to a cool but sheltered location such as an unheated garage (temperature above freezing but very cool), keep the soil slightly damp (not saturated/sopping wet), and then plant in March as soon as the weather breaks and the soil can be worked. Generally speaking, the survival rate for this type of container grown tree kept as a holiday decoration is fairly low, so please do not be too disappointed if it does not make it. Good luck with your tree!
