We have School Board Appreciation Month coming up this February. As a tribute, I thought our school could donate a Chanticleer Flowering Pear tree in their honor. I chose this tree because I read that February might be a time to plant ornamental trees. In addition, this seemed to be a fast growing and 4 season tree. My question: can I plant this tree in February? We are in zone 7 and have had quite a mild winter. Thank you, Todd Perelli |
You can successfully plant a tree anytime the ground is not frozen. Be sure to water your tree in well after planting to help settle the soil. Don't fertilize - you don't want to encourage early growth - but do water regularly is rainfall is sparse. Best wishes with your flowering pear tree! |
