tip pruning - Knowledgebase Question

what is tip pruning? I saw that mentioned in pruning a bougainvillea? I have many around my yard. Plus one that is many years old from my grandmother! thanks

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Tip pruning means to just trip the ends off of shoots on a plant. Usually cutting back a few inches but sometimes a little more. This encourages the shoots to branch forming a more dense plant.
